Tuesday Morning with Mom

Went shopping this morning in Gaylord with my mother.? We stopped at Gordon Food Service, Bath and Body Works and Kohl’s.? I know a lot of people like Kohl’s, but I think they’re ridiculously overpriced for a supposed discount store. I did however find some adorable purses by Relic there…when I’m finally in the market for a new purse, these models will be long gone I’m sure, but that’s definitely a brand I’ll keep my eye on!? Not to mention if you follow that link, the prices online are far lower than the ones in the store I went to, and the selection is better too!

Bath and Body Works had a sale on their fabulous room sprays, just $3 each instead of the usual $5…I was so excited, I had a $25 gift card and got eight sprays in my favorite scents (Creamy Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Clove Bud, Brown Sugar and Fig), and a couple of different ones that are lighter for spring and summer (Bartlett Pear and Coconut Vanilla). These sprays are ultra concentrated, and just a few pumps keeps my entire downstairs smelling fabulous for about four hours.? My sister Stephanie is always commenting that my house smells like a boutique–this is part of the reason why.

Money is tight right now so I didn’t buy a few things that I might have liked to…my mother and I were discussing this, the state of the economy, on the way home.? It seems to be that everyone is feeling a pinch, even those who appear to be fairly comfortable or well off.? My mother insists it’s going to get worse, citing different financial experts who blather on about gloom and doom but don’t really offer specifics–this makes me wonder are we truly heading for another Great Depression? When I think about the first Great Depression, images of people jumping off buildings and killing themselves because they lost everything, or to get out of debt come to mind.? Is this a possibility in today’s age? I can’t imagine anyone I know doing that, but most people I know keep their financial matters to themselves.? I honestly can’t dwell on this kind of thing for too long, it really depresses me…on the flip side, it brings out the economical tigress in me and makes me enjoy not having much money because of the challenge it presents.? I can make a nickel scream if I have to, and while I don’t like it much,?I do what needs to be done, just like most other people.

Evan’s snack day is in T-1 day…I’ve decided to go with cupcakes so I can use my bismark tip (Wilton tip #230, for those of you who want to find it online or in a store).? I found a recipe for a Twinkie filling knockoff at Recipezaar?and am going to use that…now to decide how to decorate the tops.? I’ll post pictures of the finished goodies and the recipe for the filling too.? I’m going to use a cake mix instead of doing these from scratch to speed things up, so there won’t be a cake recipe to go along with:)

Freezing cold here this morning, a whopping 5 degrees outside.? The kind of morning where you go outside, take a breath and your nose sticks together.? Or your hot coffee becomes a frappacino in about two minutes.? I was grateful for the warmth of my van.

More product going into the shoppe at Too Faboo tonight, be sure to take a peek if you’re so inclined.

Until next time,

S.
