Classic This Just In

Summer is about to burst wide open in Northern Michigan with?the?annual Antique Car Show in St. Ignace this weekend.? My mom’s hotel and mine are packed to the rafters with people.??While?I don’t mind this, it keeps me busy, you sure do see an interesting mix of folks in a position like this one.??

Most people are cheery and chipper in the morning…but there are those who cannot read (we have signs posted on the doors–what time breakfast begins, what time it ends…the letters are?large people, please read!), those who are rude, and those who are just plain strange.? This mix makes an otherwise simple and possibly boring job a very interesting one to say the least.? My mother had a group of Indian people in the other morning who simply could not stop drinking…”just one more tea, just one more juice” for a solid hour after she was done serving.? Needless to say this made clean up nearly impossible and made my mom want to pull her hair out (not to mention incredibly rude on the part of the endlessly consuming party).? My mother is not one for cussing much, but I have never heard her use the “F” bomb so many times in my entire life as I did on the ride home that day.

The hardest part of the job for me is getting up at 4 a.m. This has essentially ruined any life I might have.? I am exhausted by 4 p.m. and if I don’t get some kind of nap, I am asleep by 8 p.m. at the latest.? I haven’t been able to keep up with anything digital because of the sheer exhaustion.? Coupled with Evan’s T-ball three nights a week, it has left me drained.? I don’t even play WoW much these days, and that’s saying something.? I basically come home from work, do some cleaning, take care of Evan (take him some place, let him have a friend over, feed him lunch, etc.) make dinner (most nights), clean up (most nights) and go to bed.? I’ve been doing this now for two weeks straight with no time off…tomorrow is the advent of my Thursdays and Sundays off.? So we’ll see what tomorrow brings, maybe I won’t be so tired.? I have volunteer time at the concession stand for Evan’s T-Ball tomorrow night, and again for T-Ball Bingo on Saturday night.? Two more days of games after that and the season is over.? If I can just hang on a bit longer, lol!

I want to post some pictures of Ev’s T-Ball prowess this weekend, so be looking for those photos, I know you’re breathless with anticipation! (And you should be! He’s going to play for the Tigers someday, and you’ll be saying “Hey…I saw that kid when…”)
