Classic This Just In

I love that phrase “Summer’s End”…it would make an awesome name for a lush estate somewhere.? I always wanted to name my house “Autumn House” because I’m such a fall junkie.? People don’t really name their houses anymore, that ended sometime in the 1950′s…but I wish they’d go back to it, because it reflected the personality of the home owner, and they took extraordinary pride in these titled properties.? Besides, it’s?fun to see what people come up with.? I think I will refer to my humble abode as Autumn House here on my blog, just because I can!

Summer is seriously ending here, the days are cool and crisp with that gorgeous azure sky we get here in Northern Michigan.? Tonight we have a sneak peek for Evan’s first grade classroom, we get to meet his teacher and see where he’ll be going.??We’re pretty excited, because he got Mrs. Wyman, the teacher I requested for him.? That made me especially happy.

We’re having a family yard sale at my sister Andrea’s house Labor Day Weekend.? I have a lot of things that I need to price and get moved over to her place.??Things that are going?include the SpongeBob bouncy house from Auntie A-Dawg (because Evan is literally too big for it now) and our swimming pool, which we haven’t?used since?I bought this house because it won’t fit nicely in the back yard.? Tons of brand new?and gently used Tupperware, VHS movies, books and more.

My dad grows flowers for?The Flower Station??all summer long, and we girls benefit too!? The pictures below are of bouquets he brought me last week, from the tail end of the garden.? Thanks Dad, I love getting these beauties to grace my table!

Snapdragons, sunflowers and more…so pretty, and shabby chic in a Mason jar!? This is one of the many things I look foward to every summer from all my Dad’s hard work and efforts in the garden…he does an awesome job, and he should, given he’s a Master Gardener, gardening for almost 40 years.

On deck today, making “Just the Dough” cookies, a request by my little man.? When I make them, I will post them and tell what that’s all about, it’s kind of funny!

Can’t promise I won’t be back a second time today to blog, I’ve just got so much going on lately!

  • Thanks Julia, I like it better too. I didn’t think the other layout was too dark, but…I didn’t like people (namely spammers) registering etc., and there appeared no way to turn that off, so I found this theme. I *adore* this theme–three columns, not so ‘cluttered’, and I can post bigger pictures! :) Plus it’s really customizable and I like that alot.

Autumn Home stirs memories of all the neighborhood kids gathering the leaves from each of their yards and making a huge pile in the street. There were a lot of leaves! Then we would jump in and made another pile. Nobody got hurt or put an eye out. It was just Autumn fun.
