Classic This Just In

Make Up My Mind Already!

What am I? At This Just In, how am I defining myself? Is this a craft blog? A digital scrap blog? A baking blog? A cooking blog?

It’s all of the above.? Which as an expression of myself is fabulous.? But for blog readership, it’s not so great.? Because I don’t have a definitive number of posts that fit one category, I can’t really list this blog anywhere with a rating, like the Foodie Blog site or the Digital Scrapbooking Blog Top 50.? This kind of makes me sad, because I don’t want to stop sharing things I like with my readers just because it doesn’t fit into a preconceived notion of what my blog should be about.

My readers are also not very well known for comments ( I wish they were!), but I am asking for you to comment now and tell me what you think.? Do you think I should leave my blog the way it is, a glorious mixed bag of me…or…take it?in one direction and perhaps expand my?readership?

Thanks for your input,

S.

  • A-Dawg:

Why are you doing a blog in the first place…Is it for yourself, or for others? Once you figure that out you will be able to decide in which direction you want to go if any. I think most people like us Blog for a passion they have, the thing is WE have many passions that we like to spend equal time with. Just remember this, “IT YOUR BLOG ANDS YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT TO!”

  • I love it the way it is, to be honest! And yes, it can be a royal pain to market an all-purpose blog to the masses, I agree, but I’ve found it best to try to network with as many other bloggers out there as possible — comment a lot on other blogs — and eventually you get up a following of some sort or another.

But personally, I love the mix. Before you started going all-purpose, you didn’t post much and when you did, it was scrapping stuff. While I’m very appreciative of that, I don’t DO much scrapping myself, so it wasn’t nearly as interesting as your blog is now.

So, that’s my 2 cents. I say plow ahead and let the chips fall where they may. :)

  • Leave it be Stacey! If you know of the blogger PW http://thepioneerwoman.com/ she has a blog with cooking, home schooling and there ranch and i LOVE it. If you havent heard of her then OMG check her out, she rocks! :)

  • Personally, my blog is much the same as yours – what I’m reading, baking, watching & listening to, with the occasional rant or “ultimate” list of what’s on my mind.
I’m not into digiscrapping – indeed, it’s a new word for me. But it doesn’t bother me if it’s on your blog; I’ll just skip past it. If you’re looking for a dedicated readership or a place to direct people who are ONLY going to be interested in your scrapping supplies, though (and since it does provide a bit of revenue, yes?) it’s not a bad thing to open up a second blog, as you’ve done since this posting.
I’ll still be here, reading… good luck!
