Let Me ‘Esplain…No, There Is Too Much…Let Me Sum Up
Wow where do I begin?? So busy lately I haven’t had time to catch my breath! Lots of mundane things really, taking my van in for repair this morning, for instance (replacing my second stereo in three years…I swear I’m not hard on electronics in anyway!) and getting new clasps/closures for the driver’s side sliding door.? All covered under my Toyota Platinum extended warantee, a tiny $50 deductible and poof–all new stuff.? Not that I really need a CD player anymore, because I use my auxillary port and hook up my iPod (thing of beauty!!), but the idea is that as much as I’m paying for this vehicle, everything should work.
Today found Evan and I going to another Fisher family birthday of brevity at my parent’s house, this time for Kenya’s (my brother?Tom’s daughter)?14th birthday.? I think this one lasted a whopping 20 minutes before we beat ass out of the house because my dad was trying to watch the news.? Mom made an awesome Little Debbie Swiss Cake Roll?ice cream cake, which was delicious.? 2o minutes does allow you to actually taste the cake, by the way.? My sister?Andrea?suggested that next time “Why not have a drive through birthday party?”, to which I added “Yes, we’ll all just drive up individually curbside, sing “Happy Birthday” and Mom can sling us our cake.”? I am fully expecting this to occur in December for my nephew’s birthday.
Even baking the past few days I’ve made mundane things…milk chocolate brownies, a double batch from a box mix…they did turn out thick and chewy and absolutely yummo though, so no complaints.? Oh and Cinnamon Muffin Melts.? Dear God those are to die for, really they are.? Tastefully Simple puts them out, and they are worth every penny, pricy though they may be.? They literally melt in your mouth, and are fantastic cold, but even better warm.? One box gets you 30 miniature?muffins of pure?baking ecstacy.? Wondrously, terribly easy to make too.? Just add 1 C. of water to the mix, 50 strokes with a large spoon and there you have it, ready to bake.? I scoop the batter into my mini muffin pan with a small cookie scoop, it’s the perfect size and makes equal portions.? At any rate, nothing really picture worthy, so I didn’t take any.
I did make home made pizza the other day though and took pictures of that…I will be posting the recipe for my home made pizza crust and my Lemon Picnic Cake in the coming week or so.? I gotta say…I love my home made pizza crust, it is the best I’ve ever tasted, anywhere.? Most people who try it agree.? The best part is is you can tweak it so many ways to get different flavors, and it turns out fabulous every time.? I’m not saying it’s fail/fool proof, I’m relatively certain someone could screw it up if they tried–but it really is good, and it makes a nice mix for gift giving too.
In other news we had Evan’s first Tiger Cub den meeting yesterday.? It went well, the boys had a lot of fun and I think the parents enjoyed it as well.? We made leaf rubbings and created cards to give to the elderly, as well as a jungle safari, resplendent with foam sticker jungle?animals and trees.? Thinking all was well, I come home to an email from the pack leader, pretty much picking apart everything else I had planned for the month, or the way I phrased things in my Newsletter or Calendar.? Ouch.? Long and short of it is I told her perhaps I wasn’t the person for the job…and she was pretty upset (as was I), so I told her we need to learn the way we each communicate, it will make things work better.? She agreed.? After all our joint concern is our boys.? My son and her grandson.? So for their sake we need to learn to talk to each other without getting all kinds of offended.? Regardless of my conversation with the pack leader, I did note that there is a byzantine amount of beauracracy in the Boy Scouts of America organization.? I sure do I hope I can learn to navigate it and not totally piss everyone off.? I want my son to enjoy this experience, and I really do believe that BSA is a great organization that instills excellent values into young men.
I have a busy week ahead…I will be sure to share in upcoming posts.? I know you’re sitting on the edge of your seats in anticipation, admit it.
