Such a Rich Life: A Common Thread

If you’re one of my regular readers, you’ll know that over the course of this year, I’ve struggled with finding my voice…who am I, what do I want to share with people here on my blog? I did make the decision to keep my designwork seperate from my personal blog. This way if I use a cuss word, or express an opinion, it’s not tied to my business. Of course people can always connect the two, but that’s up to them.

After that, things got easier. I started to share mainly things I enjoy, recipes, baking, etc. with glimpses here and there of my life. I don’t disclose everything about my life on my blog. I don’t know that I ever will. I might someday, but honestly I would like something left for people to discover if they meet me in person. That said, I got to thinking. Why would anybody care if I post a recipe for something, or post photos of our trip to the pumpkin patch? It’s not that big a deal…lots of people do it.? Then it hit me: yes, lots of people do it.? That’s why they would care.?

The fact that some of us (a lot of us!) blog about our every day lives and experiences…not claiming to be experts about something, not dispensing advice or looking to make a dollar–simply sharing…gives us a common thread to build a friendship around.?

“Oh Stacey went to the pumpkin patch with her son? Yeah, I saw that on her blog…we went last week too, it was a lot of fun.? I should send out the pictures I took.”?

This common thread, the one that links us to one another as people, is the reason we continue to blog and share even our most mundane experiences.? It connects us to one another in a time when an old fashioned “sense of community” is (sadly) diminishing.? Sad truth be told, I communicate more with people on Face Book than I do in real life.? I am more likely to run into friends far and wide, or even in the same area, on Face Book than I am in person.?

This is one of the reasons I will continue to blog in the vein I have chosen…because here, in my little corner of the virtual world, people can find me, get to know me and know that in real life, I’m right around the corner.? My door is open and there’s something baking in the oven.? Or I am chasing Evan through the house with a light saber.? Bring your light saber along and??won’t you join me for a cookie or two?

See, here is where you/Bobby and me differ…I don’t ponder anything, I just DO. We simple folk don’t like to put much thought into “WHY” we do the things we do, especially, when we are doing something we really enjoy. You less laid back folk, like to analyze everything. LOL!!
