Product Review: Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Holiday House Kit

I found this kit at my favorite grocery store ever, ?Ken’s Village Market in Indian River.? It was priced $9.99, but I bought it on sale for $7.99.? Yes, that’s a tad pricy for Rice Krispie treat anything, but you know how it goes…you wait for it to be less expensive and either they sell out and you miss them, or, you end up getting it after Christmas.

I was hoping this kit would be easy and fun for Evan to make.? I wasn’t disappointed.? I had to make the rice krispie mixture, because it required melting the marshmallow goo in a pan with a tablespoon of butter.? After I mixed it up, I pressed out two houses, a tree, a couple of doors and Evan shaped a chimney.? There was about 1/4 C. of the mixture left over that we just ate, just because we could and it was yummy.? Here’s how things turned out:

Evan decorated this house by himself, 100% with no help from me whatsoever.? He did a really good job too! He was so proud of his creation.

Didn’t he do a great job? This was an awesome kit for a 7 year old kid to work with.

This is the first house we made, again with Evan decorating, but with just a bit of help from me, to show him how to use the icing tube.

Yummy!!! The product itself tasted delicious.? A little too much almond flavoring for my taste, but a really tasty product as you can see!

yummy

No, Buddy, you can’t have the whole thing.

Okay Mom, I’ll leave some for later!

Overall, worth the money for a fun afternoon with my son.? Less expensive than going to a movie, and more interactive too.? He loves stuff like this, so it was nice to find a casual kit (unlike the Sassafrass kits that come with actual equipment you can keep and reuse) at a decent price.? The finished product tasted good, and there were far more decorations than we used.? I love that, because not enough decorations just isn’t cool.?

If you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids one afternoon this holiday season, give this little kit a try.
