Sweet and Spicy Pecans

These are the ultimate nut lover’s appetizer.? Crunchy, buttery and sweet, with a kick that hits the back of your throat.? Totally addictive.? You will want to make more than one batch of these, I promise.? I can’t keep these around whenever I make them, everyone loves them.? They’re easy to make too.? Hooray for easy and delicious, they’re two of my favorite things.? These would be a fantastic addition to your New Year’s Eve spread.

What’s not to love?

Sweet & Spicy Pecans

Ingredients

1 lb. large or jumbo pecan halves

6 Tbsp. salted butter

3 Tbsp. brown sugar

1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.? Place 6 Tbsp. butter on a cookie sheet; add pecans.? Bake in oven for 20 minutes.?

?While pecans are toasting, combine brown sugar and cayenne pepper in a small bowl, mixing well.?

?Remove pecans from oven, stir to coat evenly with butter and return to oven for another 20 minutes.?

Remove pecans from oven once more, and sprinkle brown sugar mixture evenly over all.

Stir to evenly coat and return to the oven for 20 minutes.?

?Remove from oven and cool on pan.? Makes 1 lb., approximately 8-9 half cup servings.

Stacey’s Notes: I like to add a bit more butter, so I use a whole stick.? I also add up to 1/2 a tsp. of cayenne for just a bit spicier flavor.? The beauty of this recipe is in the subtlety of the flavor though, so I recommend trying it as written the first time, and making adjustments from there.

Happy Snacking,

S.
