Blue and Gold Banquet 2010

Cub Scout Pack 187 in Cheboygan, Michigan had their centennial Blue and Gold Banquet on Saturday, February 20.?? It was the first Blue and Gold we’ve ever been to, and it was fun.? It was very cool to watch all these boys who’ve been so diligent and working so hard receive their various awards.

Pack 187

Little Man is a Tiger Cub, which is?the rank the “first years” have.? I don’t hold out hope that he’ll enjoy wearing a tie.

Little Man earned his Bobcat Badge.??Each of the?boys received the BSA Centennial Bobcat Patch.

My son earned 12 belt loops.? A belt loop is earned by fulfilling three requirements for the given category.? I would show you what they look like on his belt, but he accidentally left his belt in the bathroom of the local WalMart the night before the banquet and nobody turned it in.? Never fear, I have a new one ordered.

Little Man earned 6 academic pins.? These are a bit harder to earn, as you have to fulfill 5 requirements for the given category.? Some of these things he won’t really be able to do until he’s older, but that’s okay, it gives us something to look forward to and work toward.

Below is the quilt our Den created to celebrate BSA’s 100 year anniversary.? Our Den Leaders, Garen and Andrea Anderson, did a wonderful job creating this!? The boys colored the patches, and each of them sewed a button on with their adult partners as part of a requirement fulfillment.? Andrea and Garen did the rest, with the Pack providing scouting fabric for the construction.

Cake and ice cream was served at the end of the awards ceremony, and a good time was had by all!? We’re looking forward to the Pinewood Derby in March!
