Cub Scout Pack 187 held their 2010 Pinewood Derby on Saturday, March 13.? This was our first derby, and we were excited! All three of us–Little Man, his dad, and I worked on his car to get it ready for the big day.

In the end, Little Man was invited to one of his best buddy’s birthday party…and the time conflicted with the race.

I let Little Man choose what he wanted to do, and the birthday party won out.? Because we spent so much time and effort on his derby car though, we entered it anyway, at least for judging.

The field of competition was fierce:

And that’s the Picky Nephew in the dreadlocks.?

From everyone I talked to, it was a very exciting race.?

?Little Man?was kind of bummed that he didn’t race, because The Picky Nephew took first place for the Bear division, and third place over all (congratulations and an excellent job!) and goes on to the regional races next weekend.?

We’re hoping there are no conflicts next year, because Little Man won’t be going anywhere but to the Pinewood Derby (at least that’s what he says right now.)
