My cousin Nicole married her sweetheart toward the end of April.?
The ceremony was beautiful and the reception hall was wonderful too.?
?The dinner was made by Pat’s Catering and tasted fantastic (especially the meatballs).?
?Then there was this:
The cake above was created mostly by me, with my mother doing the crumb coating of the layers and making the “buttons” that held the fabric together at the back of the cake.? I swore it would be the last wedding cake I would ever make.
Wedding cakes make me nervous.
They demand perfection (at least to me they do).
You don’t want to be the person who ends up featured on Cake Wrecks.? Can you imagine?? Oh, the horror!
To be fair, I am a very amateur cake decorator, so the odds of me ending up on that website are like nihl, but the fear is still ever present!
Of course no cake would be complete without a bride and groom topper.? Nikki chose Han Solo and Princess Leia, blasting their way to happiness.?
?They were a bit small and were dwarfed by the giant pansies on the top layer, so we made do by placing them on the ledge of the second tier.
?Han and Leia, TLAFAF.?
With this laser blast, I thee wed.
I nearly swore off cakes all together; I had so much fun with the fondant though, I decided to make a very cool shark themed cake for Evan’s birthday party next weekend.?
Send help, I think I’ve lost it.
S.
