Daily Archives: June 1, 2010
I can’t believe it’s June 1 already…this year is flying right by!? I know, I know…we say this every year, don’t we? It certainly does seem so, the older we get.
This is another “Hello, how are you?” kind of post, without any real point other than to converse with you and catch up a little bit.
The school year here is almost done–in fact Thursday is Little Man’s last day of school and my last day of work.??Little Man will be in second grade next year.? Second grade, man! I’m going to blink and he’ll be a senior.? Holy cow.? Me? I’m just old.? And I don’t even know if I’ll be back at?West in the fall because of budget cuts.? I love this little job, so I certainly hope I’ll be back, keep your fingers crossed for me!?
I made and pressure canned lemon curd last week.? I am going to make raspberry curd this week, and tangerine curd next week.? I will be posting the recipes and photos?as I go, with the lemon curd post coming?Thursday .? I cannot stress to you how good this stuff tastes.? It’s a tart bite of heaven.?????
Work today was looooong.? I didn’t realize going in that it was Dairy Queen day for Miss Merchant’s classes and I wore shoes that were horrible for walking there.? Needless to say my hips and feet are killing me!
In other news, many of you know I play World of Warcraft.? I started playing at what I know now to be the beginning of my depression.? I hate to admit it, but I lost myself in that world for about a solid year and a half.? I invested more time than anyone should in something like that.? It was so easy to escape, and not have to deal with the traumatic events that were happening in my life.? As I came out of my depression, I played less and less.? The more real life became a priority again, the less time I wanted to spend ingame.?
?I’m at a point now where I only play on occasion, because I really do love the game.? Science fiction and fantasy genres have always been my favorites, and I’ve always loved video games.? WoW is a happy marriage of both.? Played as it should be, a game and not a lifestyle, it’s a great way to relieve stress and it’s inexpensive.? You can meet interesting people, read some great books about the lore offline, and so much more.
I still wish Blizzard would provide us oldsters our own 35 and up servers, because I detest playing with children.? Anyone under 25 with few exceptions just irritates me to no end, and honestly? The vast majority of people cannot spell…which can be really hard to deal with when you’re in a city and have the trade channel on.? If I see “lolwut?” for any amount of time, I want to pull my hair out.
Anyway, my main character is a mage named Helledar.? This past weekend, after chipping away at it for well?over a month, she finally got the “Loremaster” title.? This is no small feat…it means you completed 3200 quests.? Many of these were incredibly time consuming (running back and forth to different locations, sometimes the world away).? That achievement took almost three years in total to complete.
I was so happy and pleased that I actually took a screenshot:
Now I’ll return to my regularly scheduled summer adventures, where time on the computer will consist mainly of blogging and reading.?
A word to those who might judge me for playing this game:? Keep it to yourself.? Thanks.? (You know who you are.)
I’m busily planning our first outings of the summer, it looks like we’re going to hit the pool at ABVI in Mackinaw City on Thursday night after Little Man’s baseball game.? Then Friday night after tumbling and Scouts, we’re heading to Mackinaw City to celebrate school being out.? I think Little Man wants to have dinner at KFC, and I will happily take him.? We don’t eat that stuff every day, so it’s a treat.?
Monday he has a birthday party to go to, and Tuesday I have a retirement party for my boss to go to.? We have our Cub Scout awards banquet the following weekend, then Little Man leaves for Cub Scout camp right after.? So the first two weeks of summer vacation see us plenty busy already.? Throw baseball twice a week into the mix and we’re on the go quite a bit.
What are your plans for summer? Accomplish any goals lately, serious or otherwise?
Summer is upon us, let’s make hay while the sun shines!
S.
