Classic This Just In

Disclaimer–I had no idea that my tale of high adventure in the Michigan wilderness (*snort*) would take up so many posts.? But in an effort to be complete in telling the tale and balancing that with the average attention span, breaking things up seemed like the best option. I think I’ll have the concluding installment after this one.

When we last left our adventurers, Little Man and me, we had just finished breakfast and were gearing up for the days activities.? And what activities they were!?

We passed this on our way to breakfast:

Little Man about wet himself in anticipation.

Luckily for us, this was our groups’ first activity!?

Wow…that’s lookin’ kind of intimidating, Mom.

A Guardian of Greilick explains the rules.?

And to my delight, hands them a bar of soap to share.? The soap makes them go down the slide faster.

? Bonus! It gets them clean, too!

Little Man is up to the challenge!

And down for some thrills!? I love the look on his face.? Too funny.

Each activity lasted an hour.? It was perfect–long enough to let them do the activity all they wanted, and to tire them (and the adults) right out.

Next up, medeival games!

There was balancing…a game of skill that resembled riding a skateboard.

There was staff fighting…or something.? It was like American Gladiators for kids.

Then there was this.? First, let me say that I love this Guardian’s gown.? I told her so too.

She replied that it was probably the most expensive thing in her wardrobe.? I believe it.?

Dragon slaying…what’s a medeival event without slaying a dragon?

Even one made from hay bales.

WE ARE SPARTA!!! Or something like that.

“I would just like my spear to stick, please.”

Next up was the tricycle joust.

Once all the boys in our group had visited all the stations, we had a tug of war.? Boys against boys first, then adults against adults, then boys against Cub Masters.? It was a lot of fun.? I got rope burn on my oh-so-delicate hands though.? Okay, so my hands aren’t really that delicate.? But I did get rope burn.

The last activity was the Bigfoot Races.? The comic value here was priceless.

After the medeival games, everyone gathered at the flagpole to holler our cheers, competing for the right to go in first for lunch.? This time, the Green Team won.?

We were thrilled, and we were starving.

Waiting inside was a tasty lunch of spaghetti with meatballs, breadsticks, a small salad bar, gallons of milk to drink and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.? Once again, the food was delicious.? The spaghetti was smothered in melted mozzarella cheese.? Little bowls of parmesan cheese were at each table.??? There were no chunks in the spaghetti sauce, or anything weird looking.? It was very kid friendly, and I was really impressed.

Speaking of spaghetti, we’re having that for dinner tonight.? I need to head to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients for garlic bread, so I will bring you the thrilling conclusion to Medeival Times at Camp Grelick soon.? Probably the day after tomorrow.? Tomorrow’s post involves the photo from yesterday’s Wordless Wednesday post.? I am very excited to share that post with you, it’s what I’ve been busy with lately.
