I’m still cleaning my basement.
Yes, I know it’s taking what feels like forever, but I’m going through boxes and bags as I go.
It’s a good thing too, because yesterday, going through a bag of felt craft Christmas decorations from one of my grandmothers, I found this:

I made this Christmas stocking for Toadie nineteen years ago. Nineteen!
Holy cats I’m old, man!
But I digress.
I was so happy to find this, I thought it had been lost–I actually cried tears of joy.
I put a lot of time into this thing.

Six weeks, in fact. Six weeks of stitching every chance I got when I was 22 years old. (I’m still reeling from the fact that I’m old. Forgive a doddering old woman.)
In my day, I was pretty good at cross stitchin’, sonny!

Do you see those tiny letters at the bottom? S…A…R…R?! What? I had a different last name? You’re kidding me!
I made this thing in 1991…it’s looking pretty good for being 80% into antiquity.
I apparently stitched this on aida cloth…16 count it looks like.
I have another one of these, but a different pattern started for my nephew on 32 ct. mushroom lugana.
I am going to put that aside for now, and start one for Little Man.
Maybe, just maybe (seriously, no promises here folks) I might just have it ready for Christmas.
We’ll have to see.
Cleaning my basement, and all the time spent doing it so far, has been worth it just to find this again.
S.
