My Big Second Grader
I am really blown away. My sweet little baby is in second grade.
I’m acutely aware that he is growing up, he hit a lot of milestones this summer.
He has his own Facebook account (of course it’s only family, and locked down tighter than a drum, but that’s appropriate at this age.)
He has his own iPod and his own taste in music.
He has his own computer in his room (one of my old ones).
He rides his bike all over town (within limits, and even then, this scares me), including to grandma and grandpa’s, and the closest party store for candy.
He is really into diving now, and has bought some authentic gear for himself.
He’s into tumbling (floor gymnastics), Cub Scouts, diving classes, baseball and of course, sharks.
Somewhere in the past eight years, all these things have emerged and my son has become this really cool little person.
Not to mention I think he’s terribly cute.
I do wish he would smile and show his teeth more often, but hey, we can’t have everything.

This is Little Man bright and early this morning with one of his teachers, Mr. Comps, aka Dan, my Toadie’s good friend since forever ago.
Little Man is going to have a hard time calling Dan Mr. Comps, but he’ll adapt.
I was thrilled that Little Man got the teacher I requested, because Mr. Comps is student teaching with this teacher, and he’s awesome with kids.
Some school will be very lucky to get him as a teacher one day; hopefully that will be our school system.
I went back to work today as well, and I loved it. I really like this little job a lot.
I have some kind of little bug and am not feeling the best, but it did feel good to be back at school.
I’m looking forward to picking Little Man up when school gets out and hearing about his day.
Here’s to a happy, productive school year and to watching young people learn and grow!

Stace, I know what you mean. Mason hates all of my music, he has his own facebook page, cellphone, and he has asked for his own computer for Christmas. I was actually taking a ride around Cheboygan yesterday and saw Evan on his bike. I thought it was so funny considering I have never met him!
I love that this is the fun start to them really showing their interests and personalities. He sounds like a well-rounded young man. I can’t believe second grade is already here.
