The Simple Woman’s Day Book October 10, 2010

I am thinking… ~I really need to get to work on the apple pie filling I was supposed to make this weekend!

I am thankful for… ~old friends.  My dear friend Laura and her husband came by this weekend for a visit.  I haven’t seen her in 15 years.  We visited for an hour and half, and I enjoyed every minute.  I also sent her home with lots of jam!

I am wearing… ~an old black turtleneck top, jeans and my Mary Janes.

I am remembering… ~gathering chestnuts as a girl and making necklaces from them.  Boy I thought those were some masterpieces!

I am going… ~to order some tools from Stampin’ Up soon so I can start working on some stamping projects.

I am currently reading…~nothing.  I’ve been busy enjoying the weather outside and baking.  When I go to bed, I’m asleep in minutes because I’m tired.

I am hoping…~to finish decorating for fall/Hallowe’en this week.

On my mind… ~holiday baking.  I am so in the mood to make Chex mix!

Noticing that… ~my Little Man is having some issues with other kids treating him not-so-nicely.  I’ve had one issue resolved this week by contacting the parents of the other child…I hope something positive comes out of it.

Pondering these words… “I love you, Mom & Dad!” My parents are in Tennessee visiting my sister; they’ve only been gone for a week, but I miss them bunches.

From the kitchen… ~home made pizza tonight; spaghetti with garlic bread last night; apple spice pancakes and ham, breaded porkchops with cream of chicken noodles and a welcome home dinner of French Dips for my parents are on deck.  Various and sundry baking projects too if I have time, including cinnamon rolls with my Uncle Dan next weekend. 

Around the house… ~front porch and back deck cleaned up and ready for winter, except for the chair cushions.  I will probably leave those out another week.  Lumber bought and ready to go for new porch rails, I can’t wait!  A trip to the pumpkin patch needs to happen next weekend, I’m looking at trying out a place that’s new to us over by Roger’s City.

One of my favorite things ~cuddling up on the couch with my Momma kitty.  She’s such a lover.  At 13, she’s getting up there in years.  We’ve been friends a long time, she and I.  I treasure her.
