Classic This Just In

Daily Archives: December 27, 2010

Christmas came and went this year, leaving us happy, content and tired.

There were gifts exchanged and opened.

Dinner with my family.

And of course, Santa Claus visited.  I even have proof:

Forgive the lighting.  I live in a big old Victorian era home with high ceilings and not a ton of lights.  Not to mention that we’ve got gray skies without a hint of blue most days this time of year.

Little Man got his heart’s desire a couple of times over.

Where do these outrageous faces come from?  I swear my son doesn’t look like this normally.  This is what I get for asking him to smile.

Besides presents, there was loot in his stocking.  A lot of loot.

He noticed he got an orange in his stocking, just like Laura Ingalls Wilder got when she was a child.  I thought this was cool because 1.) He’d just read about it in school and 2.) I did it on purpose to see if he’d draw the correlation.  Mission accomplished! (We took it to the kitchen and used my manual juice extractor.  He drank the 1/4 cup of OJ with his breakfast.  No scurvy here!)

The freeze dried ice cream sandwich was actually pretty tasty.  He opened it and we all tried a piece.  I wonder if all ‘space food’ tastes this good.

Santa also introduced Little Man to the tasty joy of roasted peanuts in the shell.  They were a huge hit.

I didn’t take pictures of my family at dinner.  I was too busy being the hostess.  They enjoyed themselves though, and the huge feast my mother and I worked on together.

I think one of the coolest things about the whole gift thing and Little Man is that he plays with the shark attack set more than the Nintendo.  I love that he pretends and uses his imagination.  I hope I can always encourage that.

How was your holiday? I want to share in your happiness too, even the lurkers!
