The Simple Woman’s Day Book January 23, 2010

 

Outside my window… ~o degrees and partly sunny.  The day started out at -15 degrees, and by the time I left the house to go to my parent’s, it was o.  So yeah, it’s cold.

 

I am thinking… ~that our trip to Chicago is getting closer and closer!  Just 17 days now.  We are all so excited!

I am thankful for… ~my sons.  I still believe I was never really meant to be a parent; but for some reason I was blessed with two interesting, intelligent, fun and frustrating boys.  They have taught me an awful lot over the years, including the fact that victory in Spongebob Uno is indeed sweet.  I love them so much.

I am wearing… ~my heather cable knit hand-me-down sweater from Buggie Boo and jeans, along with fuzzy pink striped socks that I got from Little Man for Christmas.  I am cozy.

I am remembering… ~how it was in ‘the old days’, when we sent snail mail.  I got a lovely card in the mail from my sister the other day and it was so nice.

I am going… ~to bake mini loaves of banana bread to give to a few of my coworkers as gifts, just because.

I am currently reading…~nothing.  I need to hit the library again.  I am really struggling with wanting a Nook right now.  I really can’t afford it–I could charge it, but I’m trying not to charge things just because I can.  Ever have something like that in your life?

I am hoping…~to get a few cards made soon, and some other little projects I want to work on.  I have my Facebook pay it forward gifts to make and send.

On my mind… ~saving for summer taxes.  I don’t like that this is a struggle.  I can’t wait to get debt paid off.

Noticing that… ~the days are getting longer, and while we still have lots of snow and the temperatures are frigid, it’s coming…the promise of spring is just around the corner!

Pondering these words… “Love is the answer”. Is this just foolishness on my part, or is it really so? I like to think that it’s true.

From the kitchen… ~Home made pizza last night, my brother spent the night and I made it because he likes it.  Beef stroganoff tonight; chicken enchiladas tomorrow night.  I baked a cinnamon crumb cake today, and will be baking other goodies from mixes in my pantry along with banana bread this week.

Around the house… ~laundry is done again this week, washed through put away.  It’s a record, folks! I’m enjoying my accomplishment and patting myself on the back.  Flat surfaces are starting to accumulate a little bit of stuff, I will be cleaning those off today.  Swept the downstairs, made beds and mopped in the kitchen.

One of my favorite things…~the purple and violet dusky sunsets of winter.  They are incredibly beautiful in Northern Michigan.
