Getting my craft on–A shadow box for Little Man

Yesterday’s post featured photos that I had printed up at Walgreen’s to make a project for Little Man.   The whole project took about 2.5 hours from start to finish, and it turned out so nicely!  If you click on the photo below, a larger picture will pop up.

I got the shadow box frame, the background paper and the baseball themed epoxy stickers at JoAnn Fabrics, all on sale for about $20 total.  There were enough stickers left that I can make something else baseball themed in the future too, so I was happy about that.

I left the 5 x 7 picture unmatted because I used the baseball frame from the Walgreen’s photo department.  The other three photos I trimmed down and matted with red and black cardstock I had on hand.

If you look at the photo below, you might think I hand stamped the border around the team name and Little Man’s name, but I didn’t.

These are actually fonts called Doodlebat fonts that I bought at Lettering Delights.  If you aren’t familiar with Lettering Delights, you can get $40 in free products just by going to their site and creating an account.  The bundle I bought was the Baseball Bundle, and with a coupon for $5 that I got in the email, I only paid $5 for 5 fonts.  What a steal!  Lettering Delights has been a resource of mine for all kinds of great projects for many years.  I’m always finding something I just have to have there, and they have awesome sales and coupons that make everything very affordable.

To make the team and player name block, I alternated black and red text, and sized the text to make a nice border (48 pt. font for the circles, 80 pt. font for the little baseball players, shirts, and “baseball” logo).  I used DomCasualD for the wording.

Everything was assembled with double sided tape, then I popped it into the frame and voila!  A nice shadowbox for my Little Man’s room capturing a couple of highlights of this season’s baseball.

He completely loved it too, which was the whole reason I made it to begin with.  Mission accomplished.
