Monthly Archives: July 2011
I haven’t been very bloggy this summer to date. I’ve really been busy doing stuff away from the computer.
I’m working out more frequently, walking, working on a cross stitch project and spending time with my nieces and nephew along with my own kids.
We go to the beach (not my favorite thing to do, but they like it), cook out, and take little day trips here and there.
In between all that kind of stuff, we occasionally indulge in a bonfire complete with toasting marshmallows and making s’mores (click on the photos to enlarge):
Because we live in town and our yard is smaller, we have a portable fire pit that’s self contained. While we might really like an in-ground one, this fits our needs and we don’t have a permanent hole in our yard.
Toasting with ‘tude! I have a toasting stick, and I know how to use it!
The only way to eat them…burnt to a crisp and all at once whole.
Delicious!
Evan has also started to mow the lawn mostly unsupervised this year. He does a fantastic job too, it’s hard to believe he’s only 9 and does this well.
Our yards and driveway are rather close together, so he’s right up next to our neighbor’s truck in this picture.
Before the current heat wave, our grass grew fast and thick. We were mowing about twice a week at one point.
Okay, I think I only have ‘this much’ left to do!
My hard workin’ boy!
While these activities aren’t glamorous, they are fun and/or useful and part of the every day stuff that I don’t normally talk about much.
It’s nice to show you some of the other stuff we’ve been up to though. What about you guys? What are you up to this summer?
