FOR TODAY… from Stacey’s Daybook

Outside my window… ~61 degrees and sunny. What started out extremely cold ended up being just beautiful.  How I love autumn!
I am thinking… ~that I will never understand people.  I get tired of trying to figure them out.
I am thankful for… ~ my home.  It’s my sanctuary and I am so happy here.
I am wearing… ~skinny jeans, a cream colored turtleneck and my hot pink Shedd Aquarium hoodie.
I am remembering… ~the great time we had yesterday in Standish and Saginaw.  Little Man’s football game was awesome, he played most of it! We lost 20-12, but we put up a great fight and the game was excellent.
Chuck E. Cheese was also fantastic…and to all you nay sayers who say it’s a waste of time and money–you can legitimately say that when you don’t spend your social security check at the casino.  The end.
I am going… ~to start decorating for Halloween this week.
I am currently reading…~Oh my gosh I am so excited!  I figured out how to borrow books on my Nook from my local library!!  I am currently reading Tess Garritson’s Rizzoli and Isles 8 volume set.  I couldn’t put down book one, and the second book is just as good.  I am going to love borrowing from the library!
I am hoping…~to never let other people’s negative attitudes bring me down to their level.  There are times that this is a challenge, but I’m up for it.
On my mind… ~Christmas.  LOL yes, I know.  It’s not even Halloween and I’m off and running.  I have Toadie’s primary gift bought and put away, and a large gift for Little Man as well.  I’m thinking Little Man is going to get a lot of medium sized gifts this year.  It’s one of those things where he’s not ready for the next age level of big gifts, but has everything big a 9 year old could want.  I’m looking at hockey skates, batting gloves, a batting helmet and some Under Armor…good thing he doesn’t ready my blog:)
Noticing that… ~I still love my job, even at the 1 month mark.  I think I might have found my place in the working world.
Pondering these words..”One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things.”–John Burroughs
From the kitchen… ~Here’s the menu for the upcoming week!  I’ve made up a new theme for the month of October, using Mary Fran’s “Eerie-sistable” Collection from Nit Wit Collections.  The fonts I used were LD Honeydukes
and another one called “Chiller”, and I don’t remember where I got that one.  A Google search will probably solve that mystery for you though!
I’m excited about this menu because I’ll be making Tyler Florence’s recipe for Spaghetti  alla Carbonara.  I bought some real Parmesan Reggiano cheese just for this recipe, and it’s pricy–so I hope it’s worth what I paid for it.  I’ll post my thoughts about that after I make it.
Around the house… ~Laundry not even remotely done…we spent Saturday night in Saginaw after Little Man’s football game.  We went to Chuck E. Cheese, swimming and shopping at Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods.  After getting home at noon today and spending a better part of the afternoon unpacking and grocery shopping for the week, I’m just now getting around to it.
One of my favorite things…~morning devotions.  I used to practice this when I went to church, and I’ve missed it.  I’ll be beginning again after finding a wonderful book this weekend that was just what I was looking for.
