Catching Up: The Cheboygan County Fair 2011

We had a really fun afternoon at the fair this year.  We went with my friend Lorraine and her four kids.  Little man, ever up for adventure, decided to feed the birds and had a total blast doing it.  Click on the photos to make them larger…I had to reduce their size quite a bit to fit them on the blog.

While not a huge fan of the animal barns, Little Man loves the petting zoo and the camel rides.

And, while I am not a fan of carnival games (I think they’re a rip off), I did let Little Man set aside some of his money for a few games and he actually won a goldfish or two!:) We promptly went and bought a goldfish starter kit at the store, and Little Man settled Gizmo in, only to have him die two days later.  He was devastated.  Who knew he’d get a lesson on life and death from the fair?

Of course my buddy is a ride junkie…he definitely gets his money’s worth out of the $19 we pay for a bracelet.  The kid can go all day long!

Little Man didn’t actually ride the Ferris Wheel and neither did I…but I did get a really nice picture of it *grin*.  Little Man and his buddy loved the roller coaster though, that and the Tilt-A-Whirl.

I used to be able to ride all day just like Little Man.  Then sometime, without warning and without me noticing, I couldn’t anymore.  My stomach grew up (threw up?!) and forced my mind and the rest of my body to join it.  No rides for Mom, and there haven’t been for many years.  I get to live vicariously through my son though, so that’s okay.

All this fun was capped off by a wonderful meal at the LDS food tent.  They always have the best food at the best prices, and we go there every year.

I was really disappointed with the crafting/canning exhibit barn this year…there was virtually nothing there!!  I know, I shouldn’t complain but rather enter something and make it better than last year.  I might just do that.  I have done it before and it was really fun.  I’ll keep you posted on that one:)
