The Simple Woman’s Day Book January 8, 2011

FOR TODAY… from Stacey’s Daybook

Outside my window… ~28 degrees and snowy.  The sun is out, so it’s going to be a pretty winter day.
I am thinking… ~that doing the 365 challenge this year is not going to happen.  I don’t even think about taking a picture every day, much less do it.  I guess I’m just not that kind of person.
I am thankful for… ~ my friends and family.  The Watkins family and my family go back a loooong way.  Mrs. Pastor Watkins passed away this week and her memorial service was yesterday…it was beautiful, and it really made me reflect on the people in my life and how much I appreciate them.
I am wearing… ~my Sponge Bob jammies.  I am staying in them all day too.  It’s that kind of day.  Waffle and bacon brunch, a new chicken noodle soup recipe in the crock pot, laundry and movies.  Perfect Sunday afternoon.
I am remembering… ~everything nowadays, thanks to my new life planner from erincondren.com!  Oh my word I adore this thing!! So detailed and it has my name on it.  Gotta love it.  I love having personalized things…does that make me narcissistic?
I am going… ~to continue to blog more frequently!  I am doing really well so far, if I say so myself.
I am currently reading…~1493 by Charles Mann.  It’s very, very good.  It can feel like a text book at times, or a book assigned by a college professor–but WOW is the content and the ideas presented fascinating.
I am hoping…~to revamp my office/craft room over time, like the next 6 months.  I am on a budget,  so we’ll see how creative I can get!
On my mind… ~saving money.  It sure does seem hard to do lately.  Maybe I still need to make better choices.
Noticing that… ~I’m doing well with my word for the year, which is “try”.  Not only am I trying, but in some areas, I’m doing pretty well.
Pondering these words…“That is the best–to laugh with someone because you think the same things are funny.”–Gloria Vanderbilt

From the kitchen… ~waffles! Since Christmas, I have made Belgian waffles a lot! At $6 a pop in restaurants, I feel like I’ve saved a ton of money, and fed my family incredibly well.  I’m making a new recipe for chicken noodle soup in the crock pot today, and I made enchiladas rojas last night.  This week I would like to make lasagna at some point, or home made pizza.  We’ll see what happens:)
Around the house… ~Laundry and maintaining the clean.  I love that.  It makes me feel good inside.
One of my favorite things…~the smell of bacon cooking.  Seriously, is there anything better, especially in winter?
