Saturday June 12 saw Pack 187 off for an overnight adventure to Boy Scout Camp Greilick in Traverse City.?
I went along at the last minute.? It was definitely an experience I will never forget.? I found out a few things about myself too.
Things such as…I like flush toilets. A lot.? And I would hike three miles doing the pee pee dance just to use one.
I also love my bed.? I’m sorry Bed, I’ve taken you for granted all these years.
It took sleeping in this to make me appreciate you:
If you look closely, you’ll see that this tent is little more than canvas draped over poles.? The critters had many ways to enter and exit.? This made for a night of excitement for both me and Little Man.? Nothing actually came in our tent, but we spent a fitful night with little sleep in anticipation.
The tents were in clusters of three and four, with about 12 or so total in each camp.
Our pack had so many in attendance that we were split into three color groups, and a few different camps.? The Tigers were in a camp with boys from another pack.? This was cool, because Little Man made some new friends, and so did I!
Most of these pictures were taken the following day.? I have to confess that hiking umpteen million miles to and from the car, the bathroom and the Fire Bowl (where they had opening ceremonies) left me tired, sore, cranky and traumatized, I tell ya!? So there are no pictures from arrival day.? I was busy trying to figure out where the important things were–the flush toilet, the Diet Pepsi?machine.? You know, things that a girl cannot live without.? Even?Little Man was tired from all the hiking.? My son is the Energizer Bunny folks.? If this wore him out, imagine what it did to me.
Just writing?a post about this experience has left me exhausted.? Okay, not really.? But this is all I’m writing about it for?now.? I have to clean strawberries for jam.? I’ll be back later today with Parts II and?III.
I know you’re just waiting on the edge of your seat with anticipation!
S.
