The Simple Woman’s Day Book March 4, 2012
FOR TODAY… from Stacey’s Daybook
Outside my window… ~8 degrees, frigid but beautiful.
I am thinking… ~that Spring Break is going to be a very busy one for me. Lots of renovating upstairs.
I am thankful for… ~ Girl’s Night with Tammy, Twy and Tanya! We have such a good time and I really enjoy it.
I am wearing… ~my dessert jammies. Gotta get dressed shortly though and shovel the additional three or four inches we got last night.
I am remembering… ~the winters we used to have when I was younger. It seems to me we got significantly more snowfall than we do now. I also remember playing outside a lot more than I see kids doing today. We never wanted to come indoors!
I am going… ~to end my volunteering with the PTO at school. I have a lot on my plate with Little Man’s extra curricular activities and I just can’t do everything. Something has to give, and that’s going to be it. I was Box Tops coordinator for two years, and yes, it was educational–but I think someone else can have a turn at it and I don’t feel too badly about it. Little Man now wants to learn MMA, so that means an extra 6 hours a week of training in addition to Cub Scouts and soon baseball. It takes a lot of time and effort for Cub Scouts…it is constant. Meetings every week, events nearly every weekend. Between planning the meetings, and helping with Pack events, I am always on the go. I don’t mind this, in fact I rather like it…but I can’t devote time to other things lower on the priority list.
I am currently reading…~A Game of Thrones, the 4 book series by George R. R. Martin. Excellent series, I can’t put it down. It’s a long one though at 3517 pages.
I am hoping…~to finish a cross stitching project I’m working on. Remember how I mentioned not having a lot of extra time? Yeah. Trying to cram hobbies in there can be a challenge!
On my mind… ~replacing the windows in my boy’s rooms. Can’t wait to do it.
Noticing that… ~we got all the snow we should have had over the course of the winter in one night. Insane! Take a look here.
Pondering these words…“Comparison is the thief of joy.” This is so true.
From the kitchen… ~I’m back to planning menus again. It helps relieve so much stress. There’s such a good feeling knowing what you’re going to make, and that nobody has to wonder. Since we moved our dinner time up to 4:30, things have been going incredibly smoothly in the kitchen department…the kitchen is totally cleaned up by 5:30 or so and we have the whole evening to do whatever we like. I like that! Tonight’s dinner is chicken and dumpling casserole. I have yet to plan the rest of the week, but I’ll post a picture of the cute new menus I’m making.
Around the house… ~Shoveling snow and longing to do spring cleaning. I want to open the windows so badly!
One of my favorite things…~Easter is a little over a month away…and you know what that means?
That’s right baby….JELLY BEANS! I love, love, love them! This is a mix of Brach’s Sour Jelly Beans (they are awesome, including raspberry and peach flavors!), Starburst jelly beans and Sweet Tarts jelly beans. Every single one of them is delicious. I’m not sure how many pounds of jelly beans we go through around here every year, but I know it’s a good bit seeing as how I start buying them a full month before Easter even gets here.
