Meet the Newest Member of Our Family

Yesterday, I brought home this gorgeous beastie.  His name is TJ and he’s a six year old fixed male kitty.

His human mother is dying, and my friend Dayna posted on Northern Michigan Animal Rescue Network’s Face Book page that he needed a new home.  I saw a picture and knew right away he would fit right in.

All of my kitties are older–Momma is 14, Spottles is 11,  Daisy is 6, and well Bear…Bear is 1 and it shows.  Hyper little thing:)

So far, things seem to be going well.  He’s come out of hiding in less than 24 hours and is showing interest in food and treats.  Little Man did have a run in with TJ last night though; he didn’t believe me when I told him to leave TJ alone because he was new here and scared…he tried being friendly and getting up in the cat’s face in an enclosed area and got a swipe to the face for his trouble.  Many tears and small Band-Aids later, he said “Oh Mom, I’m sorry I didn’t believe you when you told me to stay away from him!”  It’s one of those lessons that you learn as a pet lover and owner.  Unfortunately for Little Man, it was a painful lesson.  All’s well that ends well however, because today he’s just fine and the puncture wounds have begun to heal nicely with no scarring or lasting damage.

This was a tough shot to get because TJ appears to be camera shy.  He might warm up a bit after he’s been here a while though.  I hope so, I’m looking forward to taking pictures of the way all of my fur babies interact.

My sister Stephanie has dubbed me the Cat Lady of Ball Street…she says Halle Berry ain’t got nothin’ on me, LOL!  In honor of that, she got me this cute little sign today as a gift.  It’s hanging on the door to my office, but I took it outside for better lighting since the sun is beginning to set and it’s dark in my house.

Truer words were never spoken either, at least for me!

Thanks for taking time to “meet” my new baby.  Isn’t he just awesome?

S.
